We are Irish Red, a band from the north-west of the Netherlands. We started Irish Red in the spring of 2005.

Joost de Moel, our female lead singer, had been looking for some time for 'soul-mates' to perform Irish songs and ballads. She found Ton and James in The Gathering, a Dutch club for Ireland-fans.

The first time we played together, we spontaneously played the wonderful song of "Outlaws", in the small church of Oosterleek, on Saint Patrick's Day 2005. Soon after, we decided to come together and make music on a regular base. That would be the start of Irish Red, a new, fresh group in the Dutch folk scene.

We now play and sing a large number of traditional en modern Irish pieces of music, as well as a number of own compostions by Ton and James.

Who we are and what we do in the band:
Joost de Moel - lead singer and percussion
James Zwaag  - accordeon, piano, guitar and percussion
Ton Oudejans  - singer, guitar, recorder, tin whistle
